If I asked you 'What is engraving?' you probably
conjure up visions of 'Happy 18th Birthday' on silver tankards,
cheapo football trophies and Elizabeth Duke name bracelets, but
Graham Short isn't your average engraver. He's an
artist.
Taking engraving to new heights, or lows depending on how you
look at it, Graham Short is a micro-engraver, testing his
extraordinary abilities by engraving ridiculously microscopic words
and phrases on the most mind-boggling surfaces, creating artworks
that can only be viewed through a powerful microscope.
Take for example 'Golden Prayer'. For this
piece Graham challenged himself to engrave the entire Lord's
Prayer, from 'Our Father' to 'Amen' on the head of a gold pin. An
astounding achievement which leaves the viewer stunned into
silence. Or, if that doesn't impress, perhaps 'Cutting
Edge' may raise your eyebrows. Think about the phrase
'Nothing is Impossible' engraved on the sharp-edge of a
razorblade!?
Floyd worked with Whitespace, Graham Short's art publisher to
create the brand surrounding his amazing work including
photography, his new website and Twitter graphics as well as some
hard-hitting PR that saw Graham appear on the BBC's 'One Show',
German TV Deutsche Welle and even had a piece accepted by reknowned
genius Stephen Fry.
The brand woven around Graham by Floyd led to a sell-out first
show for him in 2011.
